June, July And August 2009

Hello to everyone! We hope you have been having a great summer so far, and have been able to beat the heat. It has already been a really hot summer, and it's just started.

Our Summer has been fun and exciting so far! Sandra hand has healed nicely, she is back to her favorite activities quilting, cooking and helping me refinish our antique furniture. Our new and recent hobby is caning. Finding people to Cain chairs is really hard. It is getting to be a lost art. So we are learning through a book program. Hopefully planning a business of refinishing and caning furniture as a side Job.

The trunk above is our current project. It was Sandra's grandmother's (Christine Starnes). We have stripped it down to the wood and stained it. (More pictures to come later).
It will be good for another 100 years!
The pie safe on the left is a recent addition. It has been restored except for the tin. They used screen instead of the tin on this pie safe. We will be replacing the screen with tin and displaying our 19th century cooking utensils in this cabinet.

As for traveling and day trips we put them on hold due to the heat. We both burn and melt so easily!
We are catching up on movies and trying to keep our garden alive. Which the heat has just about done it in except for the herbs and banana peppers.
But the one thing we plan to do on the 4th is cook out at Sandra's parents. Visit with friends and family while we are there.

Stay cool until next time!

May 2009

Hello Everyone!

A lot has happened since the last Letter. Sandra totaled her car and fractured her ring finger and jammed her pinky down in her hand. We just got the pins out and she is off to therapy. should be back at work soon. In the mean time she has figured out how to sew and drive with 1 hand and 3 fingers.

Steffon got to add passenger/and driver floor boards to the Harley. Now all we have to add are the passenger seat and windshield. He will put the seat on soon( sitting in garage at the moment). The windshield will be ordered toward the end of the year. They do not come cheap LOL. Like they say at the Harley Shop the Bike is cheaper than the accessories!
We also got our garden started. We planted Tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, carrots, dill. Along with that are lessons in canning and making jelly. I think we will be busy for a while if the garden survives the summer.
As for traveling we have done our share there too. Spent time with a good friend in Ft. Worth to check out the stock yards whew~~ (Fresh from FT Worth)~~!! lol, A much needed weekend at the Lake (LBJ) to do some fishing and try to work on the Jet Ski (still a work in progress), then we are off to Fredericksburg this coming weekend to check out all aspects of German heritage (all the good food and beer)!! .
Yes, we have had a good time and look forward to more trips in the future.

Till next time,
Steffon and Sandra

Norris News March/April

We are combining March and April this time. Due to the fact the letter is late. We both have been busy and battling allergies. My schedule at work has changed now I'm working 4 am till 1pm. Which will give me afternoons free/ Sun, Mon off. I recently was promoted to a baker.
As for my quilting I just started back up and trying to finish an order. I recently got. Will also be checking out the local Guilds and quilting bees now that I have afternoons free.

Also planned in the near future will be a pilgrimage home. Have not seen my family since Christmas. Now that we have similar days off I can go home and see everyone.

Steffon is doing fine. He is getting geared up to get the motorcycle ready for the riding season. Planning on taking some road trips to Lake LBJ and also to West Texas if time permits. We also have Washington On The Brazos , Canton Trade Days, Stock Yards in our plans as well. Probably somewhere along the way we will visit friends and family as time permits .

Till Next Time,

Norris News February

We started off February with a Kick LOL. We actually got into storage and cleaned/organized it.(still needs some work). It is clean for now, or until we mess it up again looking for something that is buried in the very back and at the bottom of the pile LOL.
We spent some time Down town only to be slightly disappointed. On Thurs here the art museums are free to walk through. But be knowing to us the day we chose would be the day they decide to close and rearrange the art. We walked around and ate a Hamburger at Hut's. We will try again soon.
Steffon and I are also taking time to redo some of our wood furniture. Since most of it is in pieces and in the garage . We figured this would be a good time weather permitting, allergy permitting. We both have been battling bad allergies/colds and for now sanding/ refinishing is on hold. Its kind of hard to hold a sander and sneeze at the same time LOL.
Steffon has been trying to learn UNIX scripting at work. He is still rather new to it, so it is taking him a while to figure out all the variables, but it is a fun learning experience none the less.
Over all we are doing good. Staying really busy, but still doing just fine.
